The Calm Girl Summer

I don’t know what kind of summer you’re having, but I tend to have the same summer year after year. Somehow June rolls around and all I want are cool easy pieces that get me a few compliments but don’t start any drama. It’s the calm girl summer wardrobe. You know the type…

Not too bothered, prob has a book in her bag. Brings snacks to everything.

A classic , easy look for a drama free summer day.

For the last few years, I’ve been stockpiling blue and white pieces for summer. I can’t resist the call of a soft white cotton skirt with broderie anglaise lace inserts. You can pull this one with a tshirt, tank, or over a bathing suit after swimming. Here I put it with a deep navy crew neck t-shirt, converse, bohemian print tote bag and a creatively customized vintage jacket from the 90s. Change the shoes to ballerina flats for a casual Friday work outfit.

Easy, breezy seaside look.

For a weekend strolling around the Hamptons or wherever, I love this thin Indian cotton top swirling with navy blue embroidery. You could put this with a pair of wide legged trousers or a crisply white pleated skirt, but here I love them with soft SOLD design lab dark wash denim shorts. The Marks & Spencer cork heel sandals leg lengthening without being too show-y.

The hat is all the drama you need, and it’s portable shade. You can put your sunglasses up there for storage, too.

How is your summer going? Are you a hot, cool, or just getting by girl?

See you next time!
