NYFW: in which we talk about who was backstage with Aveda and drop Giuliana Rancic’s name

Osklen, 9/12:osklen7        Hands down, the best outfit of the day (off the runway of, course!) Samantha Metell of Bonjour Blue            wore a medley of sizzling fall neutrals with a pop of white. Stunning, simple. You could be her in ten           minutes flat.

Tibi, 9/12:tibi It was so insane back there! People talking, filming and milling about and it was a tight fit just to get to the lunch table. I just snatched a few inspiring tidbits, but my fave was the girl in photo 2. She’s so Lily van der Woodsen! Again, a look you could do in a snap- dress, heels, if hair is long part it and pull it back, if short part it and smooth your edges down.

Chiara Boni/La Petite Robe, 9/16: cbstyle Oh, you’re into off-duty model style? Here’s a ton. It’s the throwaway gesture, as in you’re wearing jorts and a tshirt- but the tshirt is Kenzo type of thing. And don’t forget your phone for mid-beauty transformation selfies.

cbstyle2Do not adjust your screen! That’s the real color of the Chiara Boni creation sported by this backstage visitor. It just shows how beautifully La Petite Robe cuts their garments. She looks fantastic- and check out those flash colored mule sandals! Much more practical than stilettos, and still elongating the leg. Gorgeous. And? So simple! A dress, a necklace, some shoes. And she had no makeup on, just a glow. Pregnancy goals, anyone?

Public School NYC, 9/13:

I saved this one for last because so much happened.psstyle1

Tomboy style, no frills, cool girl without trying. I kept thinking the girl in photo 1 was Cara Delavigne, but how do you ask that without looking insane? She was just hanging out, so I let that go. Either way, I loved her muscle shirt and relaxed black pants. Pairing a white, starchy button down with soft cutoff grey sweats? Genius. But the pink sneakers made that look for me. Model Tami Williams kept it simple- but had a fabulous jacket in photo 3. psstyle2The denim vibe was soft, washed light colored and probably the best and lightest denim. Love the distressing at the shoulders on the model in photo 1. Also, check out the shoes in photos 2 and 3! Two toned shoes, a classic wingtip oxford and what looked to be a slip on loafer. Also take note of the pocket square in photo 2. The details are what take denim from everyday to stellar.psstyle3I was noticing the colored pants thing. The light salmon pink on the model in photo 1, then the bolder, darker hue on the girl in 2 and 3. Also, they both paired their pants with black and white, so that’s something any of us can do.psstyle4Black with white equals grey… Things I noted: the cap sleeved coat in photo 1 and the commitment to black and white throughout photographer Aaron Salerna’s outfit. The stripes on his sleeves echo the stripes on his sneakers, but subtly. I died for the dust-colored tunic with black patch pockets in photo 3. It would be a dress for me, with cute tights and boots.  psstyle5Grey and black take on the slouchy tomboy look, with selfie stick. This model was walking around talking animatedly to her camera and having a fine time all by herself. You gotta get that vlogging done! psstyle6More black than white, this sleek, fitted black shirt dress was is known as everything. It looks great, and again, this would take ten minutes to throw on. The little navy blazer with striped cuffs was a darling touch, and I think she’s wearing combat boots. Nice.psstyle7The all black everything award goes to Public School/DKNY designer Maxwell Osborne and his noir clad female counterpart Giuliana Rancic. She was so nice. I was trying to catch a snap while she posed for someone else, but my timing was off. When I asked her for a photo, she graciously posed. She is insanely beautiful in person. Her makeup was flaw…less. After posing, she was gone with a gentle swirl of her cape and I was like, aaaaahhhh! Fashion Police takeover!

in which we go Bike Basics and learn how to do more biking stuff

bb1

After re-learning how to ride a bike, I decided to follow-up with the Bicycling Basics class where you learn some of the trickier parts of bike riding. I have never been to Randall’s Island in my life, but it’s summer and that’s where the bikes are so Allons-y! bb2

I got up early threw on my exercise a Citizen Ciao tshirt ($28) and these python capris ($82) from PRISMSPORT and took off. I admit to wearing these two Kesh beauty hamsa bracelets ($25) just in case their evil-eye protection could cover falling off bikes. Just in case.

bb3

It took two trains and a bus, but I made it! I was so happy to see the Bike New York sign on the fence at Icahn I almost kissed it. Once everyone else arrived and waivers were signed, we got into helmets and got fitted for bikes. There was only one person, volunteer instructor Douglas, but he turned out to be super capable of handling 14 bike newbies.

bb4

The first thing we learned (aside from how to properly mount a bike) was the biking ABC’s. That stood for Air, Brakes & Chain. We learned where to find the psi number for when you’re pumping your bike tires. We learned how to properly adjust the seat for your height. Douglas was not playing.

bb5

Before we took off and locked up the trailer, I made sure to re-apply sunscreen ( H2O plus Marine Plus Green Tea Lotion SPF 30 ($42) and Australian Gold Hello Kitty Mineral Suncreen Lotion SPF 50 ($9.99).

We lined up and after going through some more info on how to stay safe on the road, we were let loose in a massive parking lot to ride for two hours.

bb6

Turns out the NYFD has a training facility out there, so we shared the initial moments of our class with a bunch of fireman.

bb7

Yeah, the parking lot was this big.

bb8

After doing drills on using brakes effectively, how to scan and how to signal, we rode around switching gears. I had to go off and explore this bridge, it looked so inviting. Such a pretty view! It was so nice to be out under a big blue sky just riding around and enjoying life.

bb9

However all that bike riding built up an appetite. I had put a mini-cooler in my Life is good knapsack so that when class was over I had a ice cold blueberry lemonade and avocado/chicken/tomato sald with balsamic vinegar and iceberg lettuce. Look, a girl’s gotta eat!

Next up: we go to water aerobics and like it

remember may? good- because we’re going back in time…

You know how TV shows go on hiatus and you have to live on re-runs, or binge watch on netflix? I took a little vacay after the stress filled anniversary month and blogger shoot and am just now recovering. As a result, we are going to relive some magic moment from way back when…before we were so rudely interrupted.

Allons-y! (that’s let’s Go in French, ok?)

1. fakejobinterview

This ie me heading off to one of those fake job interviews that creatves are always getting suckered into. I wore my fave animal print cardi, Ann Taylor linen shirt, and a black silk knife pleated skirt- yes, those are my weavement sandals from Cat Footwear, and I’m wearing Illamasqua’s Marquise shattered star glitter nail varnish on my toesies. The best part of this ‘interview’ (a job requiring me to supply content to an unnamed website -they asked me, not the other way around- for some lunatic who verbally abused me and then revealed that he had no money. NO THANK YOU. ) was passing this super cute lingerie shop, Bradelis. I want to go to there…1. slknewyorkdelivery 1a. playingwithsamples

I finally got the shipment of S.I.L.K. New York clothing that was meant for Apneet Kaur’s interview/shoot for my NY Fashion Blogger Project. There was no way to re-schedule, and this is when the massive Coney Island idea was born. I had the clothes, why waste the opportunity? AND I wanted to do something memorable for my First Year Anniversary. Little did I know that I would end up nearly having a nervous breakdown dealing with these people- but whatever. You can see Summer Must Haves Part 3 here. And rest assured- there WILL be a behind-the-scenes breakdown of alllllllllll the drama soon.

Anyway- I also got to try on the clothes.  I had a lot of fun stayling imaginary outfits for my Summer Must Haves Part 1 & Part 2, since I also had that big box of swimwear and accessories. I literally spent Memorial Day weekend laying out the whole thing. It was like playing dolls… I LOVE styling! Cuz I’m so good at it, lol! 2. grungecute

The next time the library was open, I decided to grunge it up and head out. I wore my fave silky floral trousers, my zosias from Cat Footwear, my cropped earthmover tshirt from that Cat Footwear event (that’s me- if I like something, I wear it forever), and my clothing swap cardi. I had washed and moisturized my hair and just braided it up under my fave scarf. Simple, easy, gone.3. grungecute2

For a no makeup, makeup look I opted for Perfekt Skin Perfecting Concealer in Decadent under my eyes, just enough to erase my underye puffs. I used my fave H.I.P gold shadow (so old, seriously), and the new Makeup Forever Aquamatics waterproof glide-on eyshadow pencil in S60 that I got in The Makeup Show goodie bag. Rimmel London Scandaleyes mascara (free from influenster) on upper lashes and Bobbi Brown Everything mascara on lower lashes and eyebrows. Jurlique Love Balm was on lips, and then I added Illamasqua Lily Rose sheer lip gloss for a little color.  Just to be crazy, I put a few drops of Tom Ford’s Black Orchid on my wrists. I regretted that later when I attracted an extremely talkative homeless man at the library. C’est la vie, right?4. prospectprkbeauty1I walked through Prospect Park on the way to the Grand Army Plaza library, wandering off the beaten path and being surprised with how much beauty is just lying there for all to see. It was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux and built in the 1860s… It leaves Central Park in the dust, mostly beacsue it’s not tramplesd constantly by hordes of people. As I walked, I was seeing rolling hills, beautiful hidden bridges, fountains that reminded me of Rivendell.. and lots of loveley Beaux Arts touches in the parks architecture.

5. prospectprkbeauty

See? No one around, and this was on the type of afternoon that sees Central Park glutted with bodies.  So goregous! Brooklyn is the best place to live these days.6. luckysummertrendspress

A fun moment on Lucky’s contributor forum where I got to shout out my love for crochet swimwear company Anna Kosturova. I don’t know, it just felt nice to be acknowledged. 7. saturday1 8. saturday2

Another day, another outfit. This time I just did my fave BDG tshirt with my 80s grafitti jeans and bangles. It was hot, and I was going walking again.  The skin thing was all about Jurlique’s Soothing Foaming Cleanser, Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Radiance Lotion, and Bobbi Brown Everything mascara. Also, the lip balm that designer Gabriel Arruda gave me at ENK Coterie. I was hitting the self tanner then, too- The St. Tropez Gradual Tan Moisturizer. I kept things light with Antica Farmacista’s Orange, Lilac, and Jasmine perfume. 9. illamasquabeautyschooldropin 6114The month of June started with an invite, but I had so much work to do that I missed it! Illamasqua, one of my fave beauty brands, was hosting a fun demo on Channeling your inner bombshell, with the perfect smokey eye- devised by Alex Box, their Creative Director. I’m adoring the new Matte Lip Liquid. The new colors are Exotic, Forbidden, and Surrender and you can see the whole summer 2014 collection here.

Next time? We go behind the camera and relive the Coney Island Blogger Shoot (also known as the first week of June)! Stay tuned…
